There are so many fun traditions from this time of year, but I think my favorite was helping my mom make different treats that we would then pass out to friends and neighbors. We usually pick one thing each year now that I do it myself, but my mom did a variety every time and each plate got a little of each.

My favorite memory from this time of year is that we are all able to come together as a family. During the rest of the year we are scattered all over the world. But at Christmas my sister and her family and my family and I are able to get together at my parent's house. Some of the best memories are made by just being together

Favorite new tradition.... Making homemade enchiladas on Christmas Eve. It is a nice break from the usual holiday meals.

My favorite tradition is the one from my homeland, praying the novena in front of a menger with the Nativity, and singing Christmas carols.

My favorite tradition is decorating (definitely not putting down) the Christmas tree while listening Christmas music, and giggling and cooking with family around!

My favorite tradition is going out on Christmas Eve and looking at the lights around town and then going home to have the boys unwrap 1 gift from us (PJs to wear on Christmas).

My favorite tradition is midnight mass - so beautiful and the real reason for the season. A snowy midnight mass would really be nice but here in Texas I doubt if that will happen!

Definately my most memorable (and saddest) Christmas was ten years ago. My mom's funeral was on the morning of Christmas Eve. We were gathered together in Dad's living room to open gifts the next night, and my seven year old nephew handed me a small gift that he got from the Santa shop at school, and sadly said, "I got this for Grandma, but..." I felt honored that he gave me the gift that was meant for Mom. When I opened it up, I saw a little plastic turtle that would have added to Mom's turtle collection. With tear-filled eyes, I gave him a big hug & thanked him. That little turtle has stayed on my kitchen window sill ever since.

I started a tradition with my son ... each Christmas my son picks out an ornament for the tree. I mark the year somewhere on the ornament. He is only 8 years old, but already it is interesting to see the various ornaments he has picked out over the years.

Started when they were born... I picked out an ornament for each of my kids that represented something special that happened that year... As they are now older, they pick them out. I love going shopping to see what ornament they will pick out as they already have something in mind, but won't tell me (4 yrs old daughter and 6 yrs old son). We also bake and decorate cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve, leave carrots for the reindeer and read "'Twas the Night Before Christmas". Last year was the first year my son read it - he was so proud of himself and so animated in his voice (5 yrs old then).

Picking out a real christmas tree with my niece and nephew coming home to let them decorate well as far as they can reach (now 4 and 5 yrs old). Stand back and giggle at how the top half of the tree is completely naked.
