I had the wonderful opportunity last night to meet fellow Houston bloggers on a guided tour of the newly remodeled Kroger store in the Heights. While there you can be assured my voice was heard (lol!). The folks at Kroger were so generous to take time out of their evening to talk with us and show us how the remodeled stores are adapting to the needs of the neighborhood (This particular store even has FREE Wifi!!!!)
More on the tour later, right now I want to remind you about the partnership with Shell and Kroger. Please see my blog post here about this partnership. You can also visit the Kroger site to find out more about the fuel program. Want to know how many fuel points you currently have but you can't seem to find your last receipt? Go here!
I actually had a chance to sample this program at lunch yesterday and I did get my .10 off per gallon of gas. I don't have the full size Kroger card any longer so I used my alternate ID (phone number) and it worked perfectly. YAY! Kroger and Shell have made it super easy to use the rewards. You can simply scan your card through the card machine at the pump, enter your full Kroger reward card number(bonus points if you actually know your whole card number without looking, lol) or use your alternate ID(typically your phone number)
Ok, now for the fun part! Wanna win a $20 gift card for Shell gasoline???? (of course you do) Well, this is what I want from you. I want you to provide me with feedback. I try to stay in regular contact with Kroger because I do truly LOVE having a Kroger (affectionately called "my precious" Kroger in my best Gollum voice! especially to my friend in Austin who does not have a Kroger :(
I want you to leave me feedback about Kroger. It can be good. It can be bad. It can be a suggestion of something you would like to see. I gave Kroger many of my suggestions last night, and now I want to give them more. They cannot improve unless they know what US shoppers want.
Oh, and I know you want SUPER doubles again, so those comments don't count (trust me we reminded them how much we LOVED that day!)
Rules:
Max of 3 entries per person but comments have to be genuine (I have full veto power mwhahaha)
Please leave a separate comment for each entry. (if you put them all in one comment, then that will be considered one entry, not 3)
Do not email me comments, those don't count and will be deleted.
If you are reading this in email or through a reader, click here to go to blog post to enter.
You have until Oct 7th to enter (my Blogoversary)
And stay tuned for my second giveaway for the $20 Gift card to Kroger

I love the layout of the sugarland store. I can find everything I am looking for very quickly.
Produce at Kroger's is always top notch.
I would like to see a section devoted to the weekly deals, where all items are on that isle.
I love my Kroger Signature here in Arlington! 95% of the time I never have couponing issues there. Produce is generally pretty decent and it's kind of my go to store if I just need something now and don't have time to coupon for it b/c prices are generally not too high. :)
I like Kroger, but am always disappointed in the variety & quality of their produce, at least at the local stores I have.
Kroger has a great selection of organic/natural/vegetarian products.
I wish Kroger's self-checkout lanes would allow you to scan your own coupons in.
I love Kroger marketplace, it's one stop shopping (almost). they have great sushi! :o)
i really wish that i didnt get stopped at the self check out line every time i bring in my own bag....most of the time its not a hassel but the few times the place is a zoo...i feel BAD using the "green" bags because im holding everyone up!
My neighborhood Kroger is a small one, but it's easy to get in and out. The Kroger Signature one has great produce and nice varieties of international food that I dont have to go to Chinatown.
I wish Kroger applies multiple ecoupons for a certain item like Randalls.
It would be nice if Kroger has special checkout lane only for couponers..:)
I love Krogers. I made a little visit there just today actually I spent about 2 hours there browsing the aisles and checking out the deals. I love that my store allows me to use multiple duplicate Q's and never gives me a hassel. I do wish that they would bring back the triple Q or super Double days. It's been over 10 years since they've had that promo.
I especially love the mega deals. I love the way the Q's align + match up to the electronic Q's and you get two buggies worth of stuff for very little O.O.P. :)
I actually used my Kroger card for gas today. My Kroger just built the gas station and it has only been open for a couple of weeks. My first trip was great. I was able to get a fill-up there cheaper than anywhere else in town. The new pumps are fabulous and you just scan your card and select your payment method and it auto adjusts to the discounted price. SWEET
1. Kroger needs to better advertise their scan right policy and be more clear as to what it does and does not include (produce? meat? etc). It would be nice for them to actually stand by their policy, instead of the customer having to remind their service desk people that it even exists!
2. I really enjoy the free samples and product demonstrations that they give out in the stores - would like to see more of these.
3. Our Kroger's bakery makes fresh tortillas, but there are no nutritional ingredients on the packages, and the bakery staff says that the dough arrive, and all they do is "bake" them. I'd appreciate it if kroger was more explicit about the ingredients that go into making their products.
I love my neighborhood store, but have to say as an ice cream a holic, I want more ice cream. Especially the private selection sugar free moose tracks. :)
Our Kroger's produce department is fantastic. Always fresh produce.
Our Kroger triples coupons up to 55 cents. What a savings!
Starkville, MS Kroger has a markdown section...already a steal, but when I find a coupon to go with it, sometimes it gets to be a freebie.
I LOVE that Kroger is not doing to limit 3 triple coupons of the same coupon anymore..I heard that somewhere. Haven't tried it out yet, though...it's been ingrained in me to only do 3 per transaction!
Kroger should have a more organized clearance sections because it seems everything is just thrown in baskets and sometimes even leack out.
I would like for their coupon policy to state that you can use coupons on clearanced items, for the coupons to be adjusted down, if necessary. (Like at Walgreens) I've had a cashier tell me they couldn't take a coupon on discounted items..."they don't GIVE food away." LOL
I'd like to see the Kroger brand Jelly Belly Pudding (esp. Cotton Candy flavor) in a low-sugar/sugar-free version (which I've already requested!)
I'd also like to see the Kroger Brand Natural Peanut Butter go on sale when their regular PB does...it's not that much more, seriously! :)
Love my Kroger in Cypress TX. My only complaint is that sometimes if you go too early - 8:00 - fresh meat is not yet out. I also would love to see the high value double coupons return 0over 50 cents).
I love my local Kroger. I have almost no issues using coupons and everyone is very friendly!!

I love Kroger having a markdown policy!!! I find everything--meat, dairy, produce. I once had the dairy manager mark down eggs for me, offering to do so, because 1 egg was broken in an 18 ct. carton. I got 17 eggs :) for .39!!! And he had 2 more cartons like that!!!!

I'm very excited about the Shell/Kroger partnership. We do not live near a Kroger w/ gas and I had never been able to experience that fuel savings program until we were recently on a trip. I'm hoping we'll be able to use it more often now!! Thanks, Kroger!

Please tell your cashiers to scan their coupons carefully. There have been several times when they just blow through them an miss 2 or 3 or more. Thanks.
It would be nice to have everything marked on your markdown tables. Sometimes things are placed on the table with no price. It's frustrating.
I love how friendly everyone is at the Kroger on Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl. :)
I love the selection of organic/natural/vegetarian items, probably the best in the area.
Kroger has the best produce in Houston! My kids are strawberry crazy and Kroger has the best strawberries, the stay fresh much longer than any other store's!
Although, the organic/vegetarian items are the best selection in town, I often see my favorites discontinued at Kroger. I have to go to other stores (HEB or Target) to find what I need. I even ask the stores to keep these products, but have had no luck.
I am very happy with the quality and the price of their produce. They usually have the lowest price than Walmart and Albertson if it is on sale. I can even lower my out of pocket or free by triple/double my coupons at the store.
I do wish I can scan my own coupons at the self-checkout lanes, just like Albertsons in my area.
I wish Kroger had a clearer policy on coupons nationwide and not what the manager makes up out of thin air.
I like Kroger, but wish they would do the multiple e-coupons like randall's does.
i wish kroger would do the double coupon up to $1.00 again, it's been over a year!
I love that "my Kroger" had a reduced section for bread/bakery items. It makes getting those items affordable to take home to freeze.
My only complaint about Kroger... we need one built in Magnolia, the City proper part of Magnolia- not down 1488 and Honea Egypt- that area is so congested I end up going to a Kroger farther away.
I love the fact they carry organic foods. The other two stores in my city do not carry any organic items.
I can't find any brand of frozen butternut squash anywhere!!!! I have checked several different Kroger, not just the one in Texas City. Although if they do decide to carry it, I would love to see the Cascadian Farm's Brand. :)
I love how clean, neat, and organized the store is. The employees are always friendly and I love shopping there. It is my favorite store to shop at!!!
I would like a definite answer as to whether or not you can use a BOGO q on an item that is on sale BOGO.

I love that Kroger doubles coupons!(at least in my area)
Wow, thank you for the giveaway! :)
Thank you for posting the info about Shell and Kroger partnering, too. I did not get a 3 cent discount at Shell when I tried, so it looks like it's only the earned 10 cent discounts. I also got a catalina print-out advertising the partnership the other day. Yay. :D
For entries, I had to put two comments per entry so that I wouldn't go over three. ;)
Entry #1:
I love that my store also has free wi-fi. The last time I was shopping I hopped online on my pda using the wi-fi and grilled my husband on what variety of [something] I should get for him. :) I can also check my shortcuts and cellfire e-coupons with it.
I would love for Kroger to develop a mobile phone oriented website so that we can add coupons to our card from inside the store.
I would *love* to be able to scan my own coupons at the self-checkout and tell the computer that "yes, I have my own bags" instead of waiting for the very busy cashier to clear the register for me. I *adore* going through Randalls' self-checkout, and Kroger could benefit from being a little more like Randalls in this respect. Scanning my own coupons helps me avoid nasty looks or confused questions from checkers, and I know whether all of them are going through instead of having to watch very closely or ask.
I would like the clearance section to be neatly organized instead of just stuff thrown in bins. They can't really get rid of it that way because we can't see it, and it just gets mangled more and more as people fish through the bins.
I would like to see the Kroger coupon acceptance policy linked to their coupon page, and for it to include more than just printable coupons. I did find the internet printable coupon acceptance policy a day after talking with someone in the store who told me that her Kroger doesn't accept printed coupons (she was shopping at mine for the first time). I wish I had found it the day before or could have told her easily where to find it.
I think Kroger is pretty good but Randalls is the best!! ;) I think it would be nice if you could scan your own coupons at the self checkout lanes.
It would be great if they organized the clearance items a little better. They may be able to sell more if they did.
Kroger at S. Main at Kirby in Houston locks the main entrance and makes everyone come in one door (near the registers) before 8pm. It is inconvenient the baskets are not handy, etc...
Kroger at S. Main at Kirby in Houston never seems to have more than two checkers after 7pm. This store is very busy and the lines are terrible.
I do like the day old bakery items that are on clearance. I can always find bread for bruchetta there.
I do love Kroger's bulk section of organic foods and other items!
I love the kroger on westheimer and amson in katy. love the helpful staff there.
love their produce. No other store's produce matches their's
love the freshly made hot tortillas
I benefit the most from the Mega sales. Many free items!
I would like to see really good sales on the items in the organic/health food section of the store. Like on Stevia, Garden of Eden chips, sugar-free products, etc.
Keeping well stocked on popular sales items would be appreciated, although rainchecks are good also.
The baggers at my local Kroger need to be trained about bagging. We use the bottom rack of the cart when shopping. However, when it comes to the baggers using it, they won't. They'd rather put everything in the cart and not bend over to put things in the bottom rack. This is frustrating when I have to watch them, while watching the cashier. I've just started telling the bagger, "Don't be afraid to use that bottom rack for items". Their lack of using it has caused some of my bread products to be squished because they will only use the big part of the cart.
Re: Kroger at 9125 W. Sam Houston Pkwy:
A couple of weeks ago, my hubby lifted a Kroger whole chicken out of the cart. I had placed it in a plastic bag upon picking it up out of the display case.
The chicken wasn't packaged properly. It busted through the regular packaging and the plastic bag that I put it in. This led to chicken blood/juice landing on the floor, some of my groceries and my hubby.
Three different cashiers, including mine, had plastic bottles that were to be filled with cleaning solution behind their registers. All were empty. Sorry this isn't acceptable. All we could do was get paper towels from our cashier to clean up the mess on the floor and try to clean my hubby and our groceries. The cleaning man, who had been called, repeatedly for a few minutes, finally showed up and mopped where we had already cleaned. I asked him for cleaning solution and he acted as though I'd sprouted another head. My cashier made the excuse that the man had been there since 6:00am. Sorry, I'd been up since 5:30am, but I still was able to function and not treat people in an inconsiderate fashion.
Sadly, I'm seeing the attitude of workers at this store go downhill, as described above. The former manager, Ricci, is working at another Kroger, and this one is suffering, badly. I actually started looking at the HEB ad online yesterday see if I want to shop there.
Ashley, at 9125 W. Sam Houston Pkwy, is an excellent employee. She wears a black apron, so I know that she must be an ass't. manager or something along those lines.
She is a hard worker and always pleasant. I just want to give her a shout out. :-)
I wish that we could get credit for bringing our own bags. Several other stores do this (Albie's, Target, CVS). It is a hassle and hard to remember but every little incentive helps!
The guys behind the meat counter at the new Kroger Marketplace off of the Grand Parkway are AMAZING! We went in there a few weeks ago to try and get some tri-tip steaks (after my in-laws in Oregon introduced us to them), and the guy behind the counter gave us an awesome deal on them (he originally told us they would be about $4.99/lb and ended up selling them to us for $2.69/lb because no one normally asks for them) and he was so friendly.
Unfortunately at the Kroger Marketplace (off 99), I've discovered that they are not always very coupon friendly. I've experienced everything from a cashier telling me that my coupons were going to be a "big hit to her" (as if they are really going to take it from her paycheck!), and customer service treating me like an idiot back when they had that Huggies promotion where you spend $15 get a $5 catalina and the jean diapers weren't printing it. My friend had the same problem at another Kroger and they gave her the catalina since it didn't exclude any of the diapers, but the customer service at my store was incredibly rude - not like what you would expect from customer service.
I've heard that HEB has a deal where if you find something in the store past it's sell-by date they give you that item (with a good sell-by date) free? It would be nice if Kroger did this too. One time I went in and the milk guy sold me a gallon of milk for $0.10 because the sell-by date was the next day. Well the other day I went in and found a gallon of milk and the sell-by date was the day before, I brought it to customer service to see if they were going to mark it down, and (again my favorite customer service lady - sarcasm there), said "no we don't mark that down, you shouldn't want that, eww, that's gross" - and took it away. No thank you for pointing that out, no nothing.
(I know it sounds like I keep bashing on their customer service, but that aside, they have some really awesome, hard workers in the store)
I would LOVE to see a National Coupon Policy for Kroger that's across the board and available for viewing/printing online :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!
theluckyladybug[at]gmail[dot]com
I wish the Kroger sales ad was National and started on Sunday at every store across the country, like other stores do. Our sales run from Thursday through Wednesday -- it's much too hard to make shopping lists twice a week.
theluckyladybug[at]gmail[dot]com
My store gives us points for bringing our own bags but I wish that the cashiers would just automatically give me points because half the time I have to remind them or I might forget also.
Thanks
surveys4lori@rocketmail.com
I wish my local Smith stores would do double coupons or roll up to $1. they have been doing this maybe 1 time a month but I wish it was all the time.
Thanks
surveys4lori@rocketmail.com
I love the coupons that they send out to my home.
Thanks
surveys4lori@rocketmail.com
I love the fact that the Kroger card works anywhere there is a Kroger fuel station I have used it in different states while traveling
Way to GO!
I'm thrilled they are again allowing us to use more than 3 like coupons in one transaction!
i desperately want them to train their baggers. i can't tell you how many times they put my produce in the same bag with canned goods...or my donuts in a bag under my ice cream. i've left fumming so many times...i now ask to bag my own.
i love the idea for the coupon lane...although i mostly shop at midnight, so i don't have to fight for a lane.
I rarely use self check-out since it's so user un-friendly. Every item must be placed in the bagging area and stay in the bagging area until the end of the payment process. This is sometimes not easy especially if there are big or bulky items. Once bags are removed from the area and placed back in the basket, even after you've hit the pay button, you are then instructed to return all bags to the bagging area. What!! I'm trying to load my cart to leave and I'm clearly finished as I'm now ready to pay. Frustrating to say the least.
Now what I really love about Kroger is the great coupons they send in the mail. They know what we buy and tailor the coupons for us. Awesome!
If Kroger could only make their "closeout stickers" a bolder color other than the white it would be so much easier to see them and go straight to them down the aisle. Red perhaps?
I am a fan of super doubles in Crowley!
The quality isn't the greatest - there have been many times where I bought produce from them and then the next day they were already rotting.
CLOTHED MUCH, a modest fashion blog
I LOVE my Krogers on Mason Rd in Katy. It is one of the older stores and is need of some remodeling. The reason I LOVE it is because they have the old style checkout where the Checkout Clerk empties the cart as they scan. Some of the newer stores have the conveyor belt where the customer has to empty the cart - meaning I can't check to see if the items scan for the right price.
I wish Kroger would offer the "Scan Right or It's Free" guarantee. This just seems like good customer service.
I wish each store would post somewhere when each dept marks items for clearance. For example, which day of the week does the Dairy Dept put the clearance stickers on their stuff, and the Meat Dept, etc.
I'd like more products in stock when they run out. It seems they do not restock - even if the new sale comes out the item still isn't there.
I would love to be able to scan my own coupons at the SCO...it was so nice and easy back in the day! :)
2. Definitely improve education on the Scan Right Guarantee...that's an awesome policy that I wish more of the employees knew about.
3. Samples in the store! I know to try new products without having to purchase a full size item....plus it makes shopping with a toddler so much easier!! :)
i like that kroger (at least the one i shop at) has a special area where they put out clearance items. however, the area is often completely unorganized, with items just thrown in baskets with no order and often products are not marked with a clearance price even though when you see 10 of the same item there it's obvious that it really is an item that's supposed to be there.
at the kroger i shop at, the customer service manager who seems to work afternoons and early evenings is very coupon unfriendly and seems to change the rules for coupon acceptance every time i encounter her. while i understand that the store will only double/triple 3 like coupons (which policy actually may have changed), i have never before been prohibited from using more than 3 like coupons in a transaction. last week i tried to use 6 playtex coupons so that i could take advantage of the catalina offer in conjunction with the sale price, but was told i couldn't use more than three.
i wish there were a better rain check policy. often a cashier will write a rain check but fail to include all the varieties (e.g. rain check is written for "bumblebee tuna" without specifying the types included). i've gone to use a rain check for a variety that i knew for certain had been included in the sale, but been told that wasn't what the rain check was for. this is particularly irritating when the store has run out of product during a good sale and not restocked for the majority of the sale cycle.
The pharmacy staff at the Kroger's on Hwy 6 South @ Fort Bend Tollroad are the best. I have showed up at the last minute with my elderly mom's prescription and a pharmacist (Mr. Nguyen?) stayed behind and made sure it was filled.

I love that they have a helpful bakery
I enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetable selection
I love that I have never ran into issues using my coupons at my local store.
I wish that Kroger had an section for Organic products. My local store does not carry these items.

I wish that my local Kroger Store had self scanning lines.

I do not like that if I call my local store to ask if they have a product, they will not tell me what the price is over the phone.

I would like the cashiers to be consistant with coupons. When they had the $5.00 off at end sale & sobe was on sale they took off a different amount with each cashier for my bogo sobe coupon. One scanned it & it rang up $1.59 price before sale, one rang it up for $1.00 (sale price) & one only took off $.50 which was after the $5.00 came off at end. I was so confused!! Thanks

The employees at my store (tomball 2920) are great. Everyone from the produce guys, to the meat guys, the cashiers (except one lol) & the baggers. I usually shop with my 2 special needs children & they all treat my kids very well & are super friendly. Thanks
mrspoofa(at)aol.com
I wish they gave a credit for bringing in your own bags. Thanks
mrspoofa(at)aol.com
I usally have really good luck at Kroger, but I went to a different one yesterday and they would not accept some of my coupons since it would make the product free. I tried and tried to explain to them that it does not matter, they will still get there money. I finally just paid and left. Will not be going back to that store. I will stick with my new store where everyone is still nice.
I love the new stores out here in Richmond. The people are so nice and don't harass you on coupons. I even have some of them question me on how they can do it.
They have a great layout and keep plenty of inventory.
Our Kroger in College Station is generally good about coupons, but there are random times when the checkers flip out and don't accept certain kinds. I wish there was a consistent coupon policy.
I would love for the Kroger coupon policy to be the same for all the Kroger stores and affiliate stores. For example, tripling up to 55 cent coupons at all Krogers. A consistent policy is needed.
I love, love, love the fact that Kroger and Shell have teamed up to offer being able to use the Kroger card as incentive at Shell Gas. My husband will not put Kroger gas in the car, but goes to Shell frequently. It is an easy process for him to use this system.
The cashiers should automatically cancel off the item for items that are scanned incorrectly. Frequently, when I point out that the item rang up at the wrong price, the cashier will just try to put in the correct price instead of taking it off completely. There are three in a 10 minute vicinity from my home that I frequent. Unfortunately, this is a regular occurrence at all three of my Kroger stores.
I want to be able to scan my coupons at self check out. It seems to take longer to go through these lanes if you'r enot the only person checking out, you have to wait for someone to help you, and sometimes that means you're standing there for an extra 5mins, or longer.
I'd also like to be able to use WIC at self checkout. The only 24hr Kroger near me is also the only one with self check out. If I have to run out late for something these are usually the only lanes open so I either have to pass on the WIC items or they have to open a whole new lane just so I can check out!
Wish the clearance section were more organized.
Wish the baggers knew how to use the insulated bags. They usually end up putting all the cold stuff in the other bag and can goods in the insulated bag.
Other than the above, I really do love my 'new' Kroger in the Heights.
I enjoyed it when Kingwood Kroger had a vendor outside serving smoked or BBQ food. I like the variety of specials they offer like boiled crawfish, BBQ, or fried turkeys.
I wish Kroger had the children carts with the car at the rear of the cart, like HEB does. Easier to watch the children while you shop.
I wish Kroger kept better stock of sale items. By Sunday night, most items are out of stock.
Kroger has awesome customer service.
I love Kroger's customer service. I feel like they really care about the customer and work with them.
I know shelves and whatnot need to be restocked, but it always seems to be during high traffic times. Also, the stockers do not move out of the way until they are done, usually with no apologies.
I really like the way Kroger implements most mega-event type sales for 2 weeks.
