Ok, this is a hodge podge HEB post, but I had so much fun today that I wanted to share. Unfortunately, I am limited to what I can post about on the above pictured run, but it was a fun day!
I got to shop HEB today with the possibility of being one of those shoppers you see on television or in ads that saved by shopping HEB. It was such fun and the associate that accompanied me on my shopping trip was so nice and sweet! I am sorry I cannot disclose more as we are both unsure about HOW much we can share for legal reasons, (for this reason, I will also not include the associate's name) but it was an exciting day.

Only ONE entry per reader and I want to know what you have done for your mothers' on past Mother's days for a gift(didn't want to ask what you are doing this year and spoil the suprise). Open to US residents only.

You have until May 9th 9PM(Happy Mother's Day) to enter so hurry up and give me some ideas!
Good luck everyone, and I will choose a winner via random.org on May 9th AFTER 9 PM!

Proud of you, organic milk and carrots!!!

When we were younger my 2 brothers and myself got my mom a ring with all our birthstones in it. It wasn't a normal ugly moms ring :)

Every year I make her breakfast. When I was little it was burnt toast, soggy cereal and a diet coke. Now that i'm older it's homemade biscuits and sausage gravy with all the other good stuff.

I try to have a mini Mother's Day for my mom almost every week when we shop with coupons. She has heart disease and is slowly declining. She loves it when she gets in line, uses the coupons I hand her and then gets products free or almost free. This is the only way she doesn't protest when I buy her toiletries or groceries. She's 80 and was a single mother before it was openly accepted.

I usually take her out to eat!

I am eight hours away and never get to be with her on Mother's Day. I surprised her by sending flowers to work and by having her friends take her to lunch at her favorite restaurant- where they had my credit card number and I treated her and the office to lunch. She loved it!

For the last 2 years we buy my mum a seasons pass to Shliterbhun! She loves the water and it's a fun thing for my kids to do with Grandma.

We used to bring my mom breakfast in bed, on a little T.V. tray.

btw, I can't seem to get the bordon cheese coupon to come up. the first time, my computer locked up. then, it just took forever and didn't get anywhere. I've printed this out before, but can't remember where the link is.

One year when I was too young to drive my brothers and I walked up to the craft store at the front of our neighborhood and got her a t-shirt and painted it. She did this as a gift for people a lot and we knew how much thought and love she put into each one and we wanted to do the same.

I washed her car & detailed the inside. It's something that she just didn't have time to do. She loved it. I wish my family could see this post. hint hint :) Thanks

Last year I packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed eating it with my mom outside on her covered porch. Since she loves to garden I bought her a variety of plants and helped her to plant them. We had a great afternoon!

My Mom lives far away and I can't take her out for Mother's Day. I usually pick up a nice giftcard for one of her favorite restaurants and tell her to have a nice dinner on us. She doesn't treat herself, so this is my way of saying thanks for having and keeping me.

The photo books are great for moms. Also, I use recent photos and make a personalized card from my boys. Super cute and the moms love receiving new pictures too.

This year (its already been delivered) i sent my aunt (mother is terminally ill) a trio of bulbs in buckets. A few years ago, my grandmother passed and my aunt is still having emotional problems with it; she was her best friend. The flowers this year represented my mother, my aunt and my grandmother since the 3 flowers are/were a favorite of each lady.

Last year I took my mom and mother-in-law to the spa for a relaxing afternoon. They had never been and both loved it.

when I was younger and living at home I use to bake a cake while she was napping (after taking care of the 8 of us) sometimes we didn't have everything to make icing so we came up with our own brand of icing (didn't always look good) - she never complained --

My Mom's favorite gift (for any occasion) is for me to make dinners for her freezer. Since she lives alone and hates to cook, she can pull out a meal and heat it up.

A cool thing my neighbor did once was to have her mother over to enjoy her beautiful backyard. She provided her with something to read, a cool drink, and a little bell to ring whenever she wanted something.

Haha - wow, that is so awesome. :) When they finalize and publish the ad, *please* share with us how much you saved (and didn't save ;) ) and who your "competitor" store was. I'm really curious. :)

I love HEB because their normal prices are so much better than Kroger or Randalls, but I rarely shop there because my coupons aren't worth as much (and nobody ever posts about in-store not-in-the-ad deals - lol).

My husband usually sends his mom and grandmom flowers for Mothers' Day, and I try to remember to call mine or send a card (we don't do big gifts for the smaller holidays).

We're all being very frugle these days and trying to get away from expensive gifts (especially with two big families where there's a birthday or holiday every couple of weeks!) so we have a big family get together where we prepare food and relax and our gift is spending time together.
