UPDATE! Novartis recall - Excedrin List has been released, check your stockpile

Novartis drugs is offering a voluntary recall on Excedrin, NoDoz and Gas X products (story here). They have just released the list of Excedrin products being recalled. This recall is due to concerns that some bottles may contain stray pills from other medications, or chipped or broken tablets.

The following is the list of Excedrin products on the recall:

All lots of the following Excedrin products have been recalled with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier:
Excedrin® Extra Strength Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Extra Strength Tablets
Excedrin® Back & Body Caplets
Excedrin® Sinus Headache Caplets
Excedrin® Migraine Caplets
Excedrin® Migraine Gel Tablets
Excedrin® Migraine Tablets
Excedrin® Menstrual Complete Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® PM Caplets
Excedrin® PM Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® PM Tablets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Caplets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Express Gel Caplets
Excedrin® Tension Headache Gel Tablets

Go here to print up and fill out the form for the lot numbers you might currently have of these products.  Novartis is paying the suggested retail price plus $2 shipping and handling.  (Form is not clear if you are supposed to return the product, it implies you just submit the form, but then why would they pay you shipping/handling?  I will try to get clarification on that and post updates here)

Update, I found the official recall page with lot numbers and it does appear you are to return the product, hence the $2 shipping and handling charge.  Go here to read further details. Site was down earlier when I posted but seems to be working now.

From the Novartis website (http://www.novartis-otc.com/otc/)
FAQS
Should I return Excedrin® to the store?

Novartis Consumer Health advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use and ****return them to Novartis Consumer Health for a full refund****.

Consumers that have the product(s) being recalled should contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for information on how to return the affected products and receive reimbursement

Do you know if we have to do a form for each package?

Yes, a separate form for each package/bottle, but they can be shipped together. (I called earlier today.)

Someone at another blog said that she called and yes you're supposed to fill out a form for each product but all items can be shipped together in one package.

I wonder if they are going to give you $2.00 shipping for each form or package. I have ten boxes of excedrin and would be cheeper to ship together but allot more than $2.00 not counting the packaging I will have to buy to make sure the product gets there safely.

They just posted an update on their website that says:

You may mail back multiple products in one package, however, please note:

1. Each product must have its own refund form
2. Return and refund is only for actual product.
3. A one time $2.00 shipping reimbursement will be included with your refund.
4. Standard US Ground shipping is recommended.
