Kroger - Mega Deal - still bummed in Houston

I am really torn about making this post, but as someone I consider a friend told me, I need to practice what I preach.  In one of my first coupon classes I stated "Don't be loyal to a store or brand, be loyal to a deal!"  With that in mind, it is really unfair of me as a coupon and deal finding blog NOT to tell you about deals I know about just because I am personally pissed off at a store.  Even when I was boycotting Walmart, if I read or heard about a deal,  I told you about it.  Keeping with this "tradition" I guess it only fair if I tell you the Kroger deals now too.  Just don't expect pictures deal? (I do welcome readers to send my pics of their shopping trips and I will post those if you like :)

Ok, so anyway, for us here in the Southwest region of Kroger (basically Tx and La) a mega deal started on Wednesday (these ALWAYS go for 2 weeks.  While NOT everything is advertised both weeks, all the same items are part of the sale for both weeks.  If you see something you like that is in the ad and out of stock, get a raincheck then as the next week it might not be in the ad)
So, as tradition with my blog, I am not going to do a ton of matchups and deals.  You can go to Kroger's website and review the ad or look at your mailed copy.  I am basically gonna tell you what I know to be free or cheap.  Whether you choose to shop or boycott is a personal decision you will need to make.

*Keep in mind you MUST buy in groups of 10 to get the price I am listing.  You can do multiples in a single transaction, but it MUST be in groups of 10 (I suggest using reusable shopping bags in your cart and fill each with 10 mega items and then on to the next so you don't miscount.  After ringing up, your receipt will have a count at the bottom with a [+]  , this count is participating mega items.  If you are long (got 1 too many) or short (got a 1-2 to little) be sure to go to the service desk before you leave the store.  They usually will let you get 1-2 more items and then give you the $5 off, or return 1 item if you were slightly over.

Have a couple of addendums to your list...

Reach toothbrushes (but not floss) *ARE* part of Mega! So they become 50¢ after mega discount and become MMs with the $1/1 or $2.50/2 Qs.
[ I know you have a reciept showing this! ;) ]

I don't think Better Oats are in Mega (but perhaps my store just didn't have their sign up yet)

Ivory Bodywash is also $1 (and you can choose between bars or BW on Q)

There's been a recent Mahatma 50¢/1 insert - so cheap rice if your store doubles. (Was 19¢ for me)

Thanks Glenn, the Better oats was a typo on my part(allergies have been kicking my butt this week) I fixed the others, thanks. Hard to do a great job when you are not shopping the store(except in search of coupons:)

Grrr.

Sigh.

DH's fav cereal would have to be Cap'N Crunch, wouldn't it.

Pricematch, anyone?

Thank you so much for posting! I'm in Dallas, and you are by far my favorite blogger for Kroger deals.

Thank you for posting anyways :)
I told myself Kroger was a no-no from now on... however I haven't shopped there since the 1st of April when I heard the news. We needed some groceries. I bought a lot of organic stuff (glad to see that on the mega) and I bought $135 worth for $25 and the second trip was $120 worth for $7.50. There was just no way I could price match this many items with my 7 month old in the cart. :(

I had to eat crow and finally go there. Only because I'm afraid I won't get the Nivea before the coupons expire. I have to do what's best for me even if it's shopping there. I got 10 Nivea Body Wash, 4 Ivory Bodywash 6 Safeguard soap, 3 Reach flossers and 3 Reach Dental Floss, 9 cookie cutters and a stuffed lamb (easter clearance) and 3 20-oz Dr. Peppers. Total Spent: 8¢. I will only shop there for the free/money maker stuff and won't buy anything that's not on sale. I have to because otherwise I'm spending money on coupons I'm not using.
