Kroger Mega Deals Tips of the Trade

Ok, the mega deal has been in full swing and I would love to hear how everyone is doing. Please comment here what you have paid for what $ amount of groceries, I WANT to hear your brags.
I also want to offer some advice to some that might still not know how to work these deals.

The key to these sales is to only get the mega deal items in increments of 10. If you buy 15 in one transaction, you are NOT getting the mega sale price and you are wasting 5 products that could work with another 5 for the best and lowest oop (out of pocket) cost.

I have added a few items to the bottom of the google doc. I told you guys I would be adding, so if you have not checked it since day 1, you might want to take another look.
Birdseye frozen veggies for under .50
More free Rolaids
More cheap butter products
Please make sure you read the Coupon source * notes. In that section I post whether the items have catalina promotions or rebates out. Most these catalina promos end this weekend, so if you plan on getting those items, you need to do it soon.
Also, please note the Uncle Bens rice $1 coupons expire tommorrow as does some of the other coupons! Please check those dates and get those items early in the mega sale.

Thank you so much for the document! It has been a HUGE help. I've done 3 transactions so far (trying to use the last of the discover card Qs) and will post totals and item count later. Any thoughts on where I could get the tombstone pizza rebate? Have not come across one yet and would really like to do this deal for the family (I shop for 3 households). Thanks again!

Blessings and Hugs,
S

Savvy, I was told the rebate is on a beer display, but I have not found the display myself. If I do, I will certainly let everyone know. Also, I added another Tombstone rebate to the spreadsheet, this one is a printable for rebate on utility bill wyb Tombstone

I went yesterday for my first deal. I spent $33.xx but my total before coupons and Kroger card was $92.xx, so I felt it was a great day. I had fresh produce and milk too. Also a PB catalina for $3/next time.

So, while not as low as many can get their totals, very pleased.

Is the chocolate chex-mix in mega deal too?

I saved $143.31 with OOP $42.94!

Thanks so much for the heads up on the Uncle Ben's coupon. I will pull coupons tonight and make my run tomorrow morning instead of Sunday.

Bella, the chocolate was tagged at the store I went to, so I am going to say yes

I think I did pretty good. I did 2 transactions.

Spent $2.62 OOP, and will submit for the $10.00 Pizza rebate, for a profit of about $7.38.

I'm contemplating getting more tombstone pizzas so I can do the utility bill rebate, but I don't have any more coupons :(

Where are the Dr.P Q's? Ican not find these. Is this a hang tang or a peelie?

katycouponers said...

anon, the dp coupons are actually on the back of the dp labels. You will have to purchase the first set without the coupon and then use the coupon on subsuquent visits. I took a picture of what the label looks like of the ones that have the coupon http://katycouponers.blogspot.com/2009/10/great-dr-pepper-deal-at-kroger.html

I didn't have a low OOP because I was buying meat, produce, and some other full price items I needed :(

$55 on $98 worth of groceries. I had 2 of the Keebler peelies left and a $1/1 printable (I think it was from the Keebler site a while back), so I got 5 packages of cookies free!

I was bummed that the sugar free Swiss Miss is not part of the deal. I really wanted some hot chocolate this week, but I'm watching those calories.

I'm also bummed that my Kroger doesn't give overage. Oh well. I'm not gonna complain about free stuff. :) It's weird to me though, because I shop at a Kroger near Katy (77433). Do you actually get the overage, or are you just listing it in case other Kroger stores give it?

1.) Spent $60 saved $130.00 2.)Spent $5.62 saved $59.61 at Kroger yesterday. For the 2nd transaction I used coupons that I received from Pillbs. I will be going tonight for my third transaction. I am hoping to spend less than $5.00 for about 20 or so items.

I have not had a chance to make a list, so really wish I could open your google doc at work. LOL!

I guess I will wait until I get home. Thanks for all the hard work.

Oh, and my store did not have those DPs with coupons last week. Maybe they will this weekend.

I love Krogering!! I've gotten 2/3 of my trips to be 92%...mostly mega items and bread/milk/bananas!

Crossing my fingers we all find full shelves!!

I think I might have to buy all the Dr.P at my store so they can put out the ones with Qs on the labels :)

I saw somewhere that there is a certain ricola that is not incl in the mega deal. I need to know which one it is b/c I must have purchased at least 2 of them. I had all of my items counted out but after checkout only 18 items were marked as mega deals. If anyone knows I would appreciate so maybe I can trade them out. Thanks!

katycouponers said...

Brea, you saw it on my google document. The Honey Herb is not ringing up correctly. I found that out during my first transaction the first day and have it in comments on my google doc

Just a reminder, make sure you get the Dole Mandarin oranges in 15oz, not the 11oz. I got 2 of the 11oz after checkout only 18 items (only deduct $5 for mega deal). The customer service exchange the right one (2 Dole mandarin oranges) for me and give me $5 cash.

i went today and my deals got messed up because the bc pouch potatoes were NOT part of the mega deal at the store i went to! i knew i had seen them in the ad so i came home and looked at the ad i got in the mail and yep there they were...but not valid at that stupid store. so im not sure how to fix it but i want my $5 off!

The BC potatoes are marked on the aisle but aren't ringing up as mega items. It messed up my transaction yesterday and I'm going to go back and get them to fix it.
This morning I got 5 Ghirardelli brownie mixes, 2 Rolaids, 1 All, 2 Halls cough drops and spent $3.04. The Ghirardelli brownie mix is printing a $1.00 OYNO catalina for every 2 mixes you buy plus a $.75 q, so I got $2 back. Net was $1.04 for everything.
Color me happy!

I'm really loving this mega event. I've done 5 transaction and spent out of pocket $79.41 for $387.30 worth of groceries. I purchased 177 items. My total savings was 80%. I purchased meat, produce milk, bread, eggs, cheese and a few other things that weren't part of the mega deal. One of my favorite purchases was 8 bottles of Snuggle fabric softener for free, plus a penny overage for each bottle.

Thanks for the google doc Stephanie.

today was chip stocking up day for us: 4 bags lay's, 6 bags frito's, 6 hormel chili, 6 carnation milk, 3 BC potatoes, 5 delmonte diced tomatoes, 3 rotel, 1 gallon milk, pkg fall cocktail napkins, 3 grands jr = 13.xxOOP, plus, the catalina machine was jammed/broken, so the manager just gave me $2 cash for the Pilsbury cat I would have gotten! excellent deal, since my DH is brand-loyal to the lay's chips, and usually goes through a bag a week, and at normal price these are $3.50 each!

I paid 12.99. I got 6.00 in cats for next week, and I am doing the 10.00 rebate for the pizzas.

Thank you SOOO much for putting this document together! It helped me immensely with my shopping. I've made one trip so far, I had an 89% savings, saving $74.82. My total was $7.99, plus I received back two $1 cats oyno.

Question about the gatorade: where can I find the 50c tearpad Q?

katycouponers said...

qrazy_guy, I don't personally have any of the Gatorade but I have read that others are finding them at gas stations and convienence stores as tearpads. Good luck.

qrazy_guy said...

Thanks Stephanie,

I've looked for the tearpad at a Valero and a Chevron but no luck there. I'll keep looking.

A few more questions -

Has it been confirmed that the same sale will extend for another week here in Houston, so I don't need to worry about getting all my shopping done by tomorrow?

Also are the Dole fruit cups included in the deal because at the store I went to there were no megasaver tags on the shelf for them, only the del monte cups.

Also is the Frank's hot sauce on sale as part of the deal? I read earlier posts that other parts of the country had them for 1.49, and the Chronicle had a $1 Q for them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your coupon deals, I am a newbie to seriously trying to save with coupons. I live outside Chicago and have not been able to find all the deals you have or stores that double on coupons but am still looking and following your general advice.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your google.doc. It was such a huge help since I don't use the game any more. Today was a blast. I got $122.18 in groceries for $35.56 at Kroger. I had to buy some produce, milk, eggs and a few other full price items, but my stock pile is looking better. I also took a trip to Target and got $47.73 in items for $14.98 (a dvd for $9.99 and a christmas present for my daughter). I love free stuff. Thanks again for everything.
