Walgreens Money Makers

I had to go to Walgreens today to use an expiring $10 Register Reward. I'm glad I brought my binder with me because I found the following to use my $10 on.
Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo on clearance for $3 - $2 easy saver coupon - $1 manuf coupon= FREE
Nice and Easy Perfect 10 hair dye on clearance for $5.69 - $2 m. coupon = $3.69 (This earns a $5 gift card rebate in the easy saver catalog-not eligible for 10% bonus)
Gillette Fusion Power Gamer Razor $8.99 - $4 m. coupon = $4.99 (earns $6 Register Reward)
Walgreens Multi Purpose 4 0z solution $1.99 (free bate in easysaver)
Total out of pocket (paid with gift card) $0.73 after tax and $10 RR.

So, you figure I "spent" $10.73 to get back $13.19 ($6 RR, $5 gift card, $2.19 for solution)

OK so How did you come by these deals? Did you go into wags thinking "i need to spend this $10rr what looks good?" or Did you have a plan when you set out to go? Do you just walk thru the store and say "O look a clearance tag!"? Im just really curious if its fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants or not, and how long did it take you to come up with this deal? 5 minutes or so, or doyou spend a half an hour walking around the store? Sorry, Im just curious about that kind of stuff and is this the kind of deal someone with no RR would want to start with? Thanks for everything!

Well Denise, it is a combination of the two really. I have a decent memory of what items we typically have coupons for so for this deal, here is a peek into my planning.
I went with the intent of getting the razor and some orange juice. This store doesn't sale Simply Oj so I had to find a $5.01 filler to use my $10 RR($8.99 razor - 4 = 4.99)
I first headed to the clearance endcap with esc in hand to match with wags coupons. Found the tgel, knew we had $1 coupons so went out to my car and grabbed my binder. Went back in still looking for $5.01 when I saw lots of clearance hairdye. I was actually hoping our manuf. coupons combined with esc would provide overages when I stumbled upon the tag advertising the $5 giftcard on some clearance hair dye. Dug in binder and found $2 coupon, cool! $3.69 down $1.32 to go. Didn't want to just lose that money, so I looked in easysaver for cheap rebate item that I would not have a coupon for(so I could use the register reward). Wala, contact solution!
YES, I am THIS CRAZY in my deals. It is "interesting" shopping with me to say the least.

2knoxs, I have been couponing like this for 5+ years but have always had a mathematical mind. I can't remember when the marrying of the two finally turned me into an extreme couponer, lol
