Infant Grape Oral Suspension Recall!

I know I have a ton of readers with little ones, so if you have not heard, please be aware there is a recall on Infant Tylenol Oral Suspension 1 oz Grape.
McNeil is initiating this voluntary recall as a precaution after receiving a small number of complaints from consumers who reported difficulty using the Infants' TYLENOL® SimpleMeasure™ dosing system.  SimpleMeasure™ includes a dosing syringe, which a parent or caregiver inserts into a protective cover, or “flow restrictor,” at the top of the bottle to measure the proper dose.  In some cases, the flow restrictor was pushed into the bottle when inserting the syringe.  Children's TYLENOL® products are intended for children two years of age and older and remain available.

UPDATE! Novartis recall - Excedrin List has been released, check your stockpile

Novartis drugs is offering a voluntary recall on Excedrin, NoDoz and Gas X products (story here). They have just released the list of Excedrin products being recalled. This recall is due to concerns that some bottles may contain stray pills from other medications, or chipped or broken tablets.

The following is the list of Excedrin products on the recall:


All lots of the following Excedrin products have been recalled with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier:

Go here to print up and fill out the form for the lot numbers you might currently have of these products.  Novartis is paying the suggested retail price plus $2 shipping and handling.  (Form is not clear if you are supposed to return the product, it implies you just submit the form, but then why would they pay you shipping/handling?  I will try to get clarification on that and post updates here)

Update, I found the official recall page with lot numbers and it does appear you are to return the product, hence the $2 shipping and handling charge.  Go here to read further details. Site was down earlier when I posted but seems to be working now.

Skippy Reduced Fat Peanut Butter Recall

Unilever has announced a recall of 6 Best if Used by Dates of their Skippy Reduced Fat and Chunky Reduced Fat Peanut butter. I know with those hot $1 coupons floating around last month, some of you might have some of this peanut butter in your stash. Please check the following recall notice out to see if your peanut butter is affected by the recall.

The product was distributed to retail outlets in Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The affected product, which is packaged in 16.3 oz plastic jars, is as follows:

* UPCs: 048001006812 and 048001006782 (located on the side of the jar’s label below the bar code.)
* Best-If-Used-By Dates: MAY1612LR1, MAY1712LR1, MAY1812LR1, MAY1912LR1, MAY2012LR1 and MAY2112LR1 (Stamped on the lid of the jar.)

Rolaids SoftChews Recall!!!!

Ok, I know as couponers you probably have a few (dozens) of these in your house. Well, for those of you that have Rolaids SoftChews in your house, YOU need to read this here and STOP using them immediately. There has been a recall on ALL softchews.
I know I have at least a dozen boxes/bags in my house, so each of you are bound to have a box or more.

Huge Similac Baby Formula Recall!

All you mommies out there that feed your little one Similac powder, you might want to read this (liquid Similac is not affected in this recall):

Abbott is recalling these products following an internal quality review, which detected the remote possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single manufacturing facility. The United States Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) has determined that while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted.



The recall of these powder infant formulas includes:

Certain Similac powder product lines offered in plastic containers.
Certain Similac powder product lines offered in 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce and 12.9-ounce cans.
To immediately find out if the product in your possession is included in this recall, parents and caregivers should visit www.similac.com/recall/lookup, and type in their lot number to determine if their product is affected, or call (800) 986-8850.

Kellogg's Cereal recall - Froot Loops, Apple Jacks etc

Better check your stockpiles, it seems Kelloggs has just issued a voluntary recall on select lots of Kelloggs Froot Loops, Corn Pops, Apple Jacks and Honey Smacks. Please visit this site for more information on what dates to look for and what you can do.

High praise for McNeil Consumer Healthcare

Remeber the recall I posted about here? Well, I finally got around to filling out the online form for my 12 bottles affected by the recall about 2 weeks ago. And today in my mailbox was 2 checks: one for $46 and one for $42!!!!!!

I just want to give two thumbs up to McNeil Health for having some excellent customer service! I will definitely be purchasing their products in the future, knowing they are concerned about the safety of my kids and that they go above and beyond in their recall efforts!

Another Recall- Children's Medicine ********

McNeil Consumer Healthcare announced a voluntary recall on several OTC Infant and Children's Products. Pictured above are just a few examples of the products in my own stockpile that have been recalled.
Please check the list here to see if you have some of these products in your stash. The list shows NDC numbers which you can find at the top right hand side of the front of the boxes(above the product name).
Consumers can contact the company at 1-888-222-6036 and also at this website.
They have the hours of operation for the phone number listed on the website along with a form you can fill out to request a coupon for a free product or a product refund. It does state you can fill out multiple forms if you have more than 6 affected bottles(so far I have found 12 YIKES!)
