Another Kroger giveaway

Now, as promised, the second part of that giveaway : a $20 gift card to Kroger!
First, I want to tell you a little about my trip to Kroger.  The fine folks at Kroger some Houston area bloggers (including me) on a tour of the newly renovated Kroger in the Heights.  They showed us the produce section

Notice the HUGE colorful section in the background.  That is the pepper section WOW!!!!   We also found out Kroger purchases local produce when possible which is just wonderful news.  We also found out Kroger sells Driscoll berries exclusively. 
Several of the stores being remodeled in the district are also adding a very impressive bulk nuts, granola and other natural items section.  Sorry I don't have a picture of that (still learning my phone).  
We moved on to the meat/seafood section

In this section, we learned what happens to the fresh meat in the case that does not get sold.  Rather than tossing all that still edible meat, Kroger has partnered with local food banks.  They keep the fresh cuts of meat in a freezer (much as we do when we buy reduced for quick sale meat that is ON the last day) and the food bank comes and picks the meat up to distribute to the needy.  I was excited to hear this meat just doesn't get thrown out, as that is just so wasteful and a shame.  YAY Kroger!
While checking out the burger grilling station, I kind of took a sidetrack and headed for this demo station:

BEER!  Southern Star Microbrew in Conroe was in the Kroger providing samples of their beer.  Seeing as my husband is a homebrewer, I HAD to stop and take a sample and talk with the beer man! lol
We moved on to the wine section where we were offered even MORE samples and had a chance to talk with the wine steward(ok that wasn't his title, but I can't remember the name, lol).  Again, I was interested in the beer display and the make your own 6 pack.  This new Kroger had a whole 4 foot section of various premium beers you can mix and match and make your own 6 pack.  This is a neat gift idea for the beer lovers on your list.  If you pick one bad beer, at least it doesn't kill the whole 6 pack :)
We moved around the rest of the store finding out some really interesting information.  At the end of the evening we were served pasta to order and had an opportunity to talk with the folks at Kroger and ask questions.  That is when I showed my shameful display of a Kroger card:

Notice the card on the far right.  The plastic is actually separated from what is left of the card.  The good news for me, the right people were listening.  Did you know you can get a new Kroger card and they will just tie it to your old one.  The account will be the same, so you won't lose gas points, upromise, cellfire, shortcuts etc.  It is all still there.  Notice my shiny new cards they sent to me on the left!  I need to test these suckers out.
